The Role of Occupational Safety and Health in Preserving Employee Health
16.09.2025 10:00–11:30
Sirius University, Conference hall 1
As competition on the labour market becomes increasingly tough in the modern world, enterprises are starting to realize that one of the key values is people.
Creating safe, comfortable places for workers is becoming a top priority for many employers. The role of occupational safety and health is to create conditions that minimize the likelihood of industrial injuries and occupational diseases. In addition, occupational safety and health services are now expanding their functions to create psychological comfort for employees, as interaction with HR units at companies becomes increasingly close.
According to WHO estimates:
• Countries lose 12 billion working days annually due to anxiety disorders in employees, which amounts to roughly USD 1 trillion
• Measures to protect health in the workplace reduce the amount of sick leave of employees by 27% and companies’ medical care expenses by 26%
An effective occupational safety and health system can provide a foundation for creating a healthy working environment that promotes both the physical and psychological well-being of company employees.

Health Risk Management Tools at Remote Production Facilities
16.09.2025 16:30–18:30
Sirius University, Roundtable 5.6
Most remote production facilities are located in regions with extreme climatic conditions, such as severe frost in winter, short summers, high levels of humidity, and long polar nights. This places limitations on the construction and operation of facilities and requires special measures to protect the health of workers. Attracting and retaining skilled professionals in remote areas is fraught with problems involving accommodation, medical care, transport accessibility, and social infrastructure. This is precisely why employers are introducing digital solutions to provide medical services.
