Training and competence development for occupational medicine professionals: Current aspects and prospects
08.09.2021 14:30–16:00
Sirius Science and Arts Park, Conference hall 7
Analysis of inconsistencies in contemporary Russian professional education shows a noticeable gap between the requirements of employers and the competencies of future specialists that they acquire in the process of training: more than 60% of university graduates cannot find jobs in their field; more than 50% do not use specific professional competencies in their work. The development and organisation of competence centres in occupational medicine, based on leading vocational education institutions as well as advanced industrial companies and enterprises, designed to provide training for highly qualified professionals with a wide range of professional competences and developed innovation skills, is now necessary.
The main issues related to the training of occupational medicine and occupational pathology specialists will be addressed, issues of required knowledge, skills, work activities, competence training based on the integration of vocational education with science, business and industry.

How to mitigate the risks of unsafe behaviour
08.09.2021 16:30–17:30
Sirius Science and Arts Park, Conference hall 1
Many companies place great emphasis on building a safety culture or 'safety climate'. There are methodologies in place to assess the level of safety culture. By conducting such surveys on a regular basis, bottlenecks can be identified and appropriate measures can be taken.
The techniques to be covered in the workshop aim to provide a prediction of the propensity of workers to engage in misconduct and unsafe behaviour, as well as identifying the causes of such behaviour and recommending an approach to managing such workers. In our projects, we established a fairly stable relationship and a high correlation between the prediction of behaviour and the number of violations.

The "Safety II" concept and other innovative approaches from theory to practice in Russian realities
08.09.2021 16:30–18:00

But despite this, there is still a demand to share experiences and best practices. The idea of such professional competitions is supported by the expert community and the Russian Ministry of Labour, as the competition is a platform for sharing best practices and experience in occupational safety and health, and over the 4 years of the competition "We Protect Professionals" has already received over 500 projects, which can be replicated at Russian enterprises.

Noise protection equipment
08.09.2021 16:30–17:30
Sirius Science and Arts Park, Conference hall 9
Excessive noise levels are one of the most common workplace hazards. Exposure of workers to it can lead to serious disorders in the human body. Various measures have been developed to protect workers from the harmful effects of noise: barriers, replacement of noisy machinery parts and so on. Personal protective equipment is the last element in the hierarchy of protective measures. The effectiveness of the worker's protection, his life and health, and the effectiveness of the provision of PPE to workers depend on their correct selection and correct use. The development of quality guidelines for the selection and use of personal hearing protection equipment is now highly relevant in light of the development of the risk-based approach and the zero injury concept.
